**Beginning April 20, 2020, my "office hours" will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00-9:45AM. PWCS School Buildings Closed to Students Through End of School Year

By order of the Governor of Virginia, all Prince William County Public Schools will remain closed to students through the end of the 2019-20 school year (June 2020), due to the health concerns caused by COVID-19 (coronavirus). Read More

Although PWCS is unable to provide instruction or class assignments to students while schools remain closed, our School Division hopes that the suggestions for optional learning activities posted here will help parents support student learning until schools re-open. Please remember that use of these materials and participation in these activities are optional and neither grades nor course credit will be awarded.

Welcome, Antietam families! I hope you will find this page useful. Please feel free to access these resources available for at-home practice. As always, contact me with any questions or concerns at princekm@pwcs.edu

3/19/2020 Update: Dear families, during this strange time, I will be posting information regarding activities your student(s) can complete at home. Please check back frequently!

Reading: Continue to read to, or with, your child for 20 minutes per day. Before reading, be sure to complete a "picture walk" to allow your child to discuss what they see in the pictures and make predictions. After reading, encourage your child to retell the story. Ask questions about the characters and setting, as well as what happened first, next and last.

Writing: Keep a daily journal. Your child can write about the weather, an activity they completed, etc. Students should try sounding words out on their own.

Math: Continue to practice basic math with your child. Students in 2nd grade should focus on adding and subtracting with numbers up to 20. They can draw picture/tally marks or use house hold objects, such as beads or small pieces of cereal, to assist them. Students in 5th grade should focus on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of multi-digit numbers. Remember to show your work!

**Students can log in to many websites they use at school by accessing their CLEVER portal: Dreambox, Epic, MyOn, Reading Eggs, Brain Pop, Kodable, etc.**

**Please note: Assignments are not required at this time and they will not be graded yet. Please continue to check this website for future assignments. I will post tasks under the Files and Documents tab of this web page. I will also be attempting to reach out via Seesaw with specific assignments/tasks to help your child continue to practice and build upon skills he/she has already learned. Please continue to be patient as I learn how to use Seesaw for this purpose! (Yes, kids, teachers have to learn things, too!)**

3/23/2020: UPDATE: I have posted some suggested activities under the "Files and Documents" tab of this webpage. Please continue to check this periodically as I will be updating it throughout the week to provide additional activities.  Reminder--This will not be graded and new instruction will not take place at this time. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns! I MISS ALL OF MY KIDDOS AND HOPE YOU ARE ALL SAFE AND HEALTHY!!
